O.K. Everybody has the uncle who pulls a quarter out of little Timmy's ear, right? If he can pull out enough quarters to fill a 30 minute slot, does he get the job? No... This is one of the hardest things to do... find a good magician. So my advice is this: don't hire a magician, hire an ENTERTAINER. You can learn "every trick in the book" and still not be funny, talented or worth a paycheck.

Then there's the question that I just don't get.... Can you do an hour show? WHY?? Would you rather have an hour of magic that may or may not get lost after 20 minutes or would you rather have 40 minutes of rock solid, tried and true entertainment. The attention span of the average 5 to 12 year old is about 30  minutes anyway... What needs to be done here is a magic trick in itself. I am of the belief that being remembered is better than being paid. For example, in our show.... nothing goes right. That's the magic right there. Johnny Thompson (now working with Chris Angel) has a show where his assistant rips her dress, his bird "pooped" on him and things went downhill from there. Johnny's an old man now... he's still as funny as ever. And nothing ever went right...

So, I give you this. Don't hire a magician. Hire someone who will make the kids laugh. Someone who won't scare the kids.  Forget the magic... that's just a bonus for a good entertainer...
